Maseca is our leading global brand of corn flour that has achieved taking the flavor of Mexico to the entire world through the tortilla, in addition is an important participant in the market of Grits of corn in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
In 1949 in Cerralvo, Nuevo Leon, we founded the first "nixtamal" corn flour facility in the world. Maseca was the name that Mr. Roberto González Barrera gave to this revolutionary product, which comes from "masa seca" (dry dough), i.e., dehydrated corn flour.
Maseca started to position itself as a synonym for quality, but also as a staple food on Mexicans' tables.
Maseca is made of 100% natural corn and is vital for proper nourishment provided through its high nutritional content, since the product is also fortified with vitamins and minerals. The product is synonymous with health and energy.
The tortilla is fundamentalto the Mexican diet and thus it has strong cultural and emotional roots. Without losing this bond with the consumer, the Maseca brand has evolved to position the tortilla in the modern world, revaluating it as a natural, healthy and nutritious food.
Maseca has also been present in the United States for more than 30 years and is now the undisputed leading brand in the corn flour business, in both the industrial and self-service channels. It also represents Mexican culture in the United States for the Hispanic consumer.
The brand has also been present since 1987 in Central America, beginning in Costa Rica and later in Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua, and is recognized as the corn flour with the best quality and high nutritional value.
