On Aprill 8, The Mission Foods Texas-Mexico Center held its first symposium in Mexico, with the presentation of the first research results on trade, investment and migration. Mexican workers migration to Texas, does not displace American labor force, but generates additional jobs, according to the first conclusions of research done by the The Mission Foods Texas-Mexico Center. “We know Texas is leader in strengthening cooperation between neighbors.  This research will help create better job and business opportunities on both sides of the border”, said Juan González Moreno, Gruma Chairman and CEO.  The Center was created in 2016, with a Gruma contribution of USD$ 4 million. The Mission Foods Texas-Mexico Center promotes and supports actions to enhance Mexico-Texas-United States understanding.

In May, in line with constant Gruma efforts to grant economic benefits to its investors, the company informed the market that the Regular General Assembly, held last April 27, approved to pay its stockholders an effective dividend of MXN1,852 billion (MXN 4.28 per stock). The dividend will be paid on July 17 and October 16 of this year, and January 15 and April 16, 2019.

During the same month,  Gruma and the International Center for the Improvement of Maize and Wheat (CIMMYT, by its Spanish acronym), signed a collaboration agreement entitled “Technological Support and Research Program for Sustainable Maize Production” , with the purpose of boosting productivity of small sized white corn farmers. This project, which will start in Campeche and Tamaulipas and has full support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA, by its Spanish acronym), also has the objective of promoting agricultural activities that guarantee food security in Mexico and Latin America. It was signed by Gruma Chairman and CEO, Juan González Moreno, and CIMMYT’s Director General, Martin Kropff.
