“This plant consolidates Gruma as the leader in tortilla production, commercialization, and distribution in the United States, and reaffirms Gruma’s commitment to offer its clients and consumers wholesome quality world-class products to satisfy their tastes and needs,”.
Dallas, Texas, USA, 20 November 2017. “This plant consolidates Gruma as the leader in tortilla production, commercialization, and distribution in the United States, and reaffirms Gruma’s commitment to offer its clients and consumers wholesome quality world-class products to satisfy their tastes and needs,” stressed Gruma President and CEO, Juan González Moreno, during the inauguration of the new plant in Dallas, Texas.
“Now, Mission Foods has the capacity to satisfy the growing demand for our products in Texas and neighboring states in the future,” he added.
Speaking before Texas Secretary of State, Rolando B. Pablos representing the governor of the state, clients, company executives, and special guests at the event, González Moreno highlighted, “This new Gruma facility is equipped with the newest generation technology and operates under strict quality and sustainability standards.”
“(Plant) capacity will allow it to continue to grow, and at full capacity annual production will be more than 10-billion corn and wheat tortillas, in addition to tortilla chips and flatbreads under its global Mission brand, and the Guerrero and Calidad national brands supplying the states of Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana, Kansas, and northern Texas,” explained the President and CEO of Gruma.
With this new plant, located in Dallas, Texas, Mission Foods will generate 1,000 direct jobs and more than 4,500 indirect jobs. The plant has areas specially designed to produce and pack each product, using eco-friendly equipment that guarantee environmental control and sanitary processes.
Thus, with its 20 tortilla production plants strategically located in the US, and its sound operations that for four decades have been based upon continued growth, Gruma serves its clients and consumers in the US with world-class quality products.
It should be noted that Gruma has been operating in the US for 40 years. In 1977 it set up its first tortilla production plant in Canoga Park, California. Later, Gruma acquired Mission’s small tortilla plant in San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles.
