“This new plant will generate 890 direct and indirect jobs, and will consolidate Mission-México as the national leader in corn tortilla and tostada distribution to the self-service channel”.
Huejotzingo, Puebla, 01 December 2016. Today, Juan González Moreno, Chairman and CEO of Gruma, announced that the company would invest $1-billion pesos to build its third Mission tortilla and tostada production plant in Mexico, in the municipality of Huejotzingo, state of Puebla.
The governor of Puebla, Rafael Moreno Valle, joined Mr. González Moreno at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Mission-México plant. Installed capacity at the facility will allow it to produce more than 50 thousand tons of corn and wheat tortillas, baked tostadas and fried products each year.
“This new plant will generate 890 direct and indirect jobs, and will consolidate our Mission-México subsidiary as the leader in corn tortilla and tostada distribution to the self-service channel,” said Mr. González Moreno.
Additionally, Mr. González Moreno (a native of Nuevo León) thanked Governor Moreno Valle for all the support his administration afforded this important project, and said that “Puebla is a strategic state to supply the most important market in the country.”
