“For Maseca, supporting the population affected is of the utmost importance, which is why we will be present until the contingency is over..”.
Xalapa, Veracruz, August 25, 2021.- In line with its social commitment and to help families affected by hurricane “Grace” in the state of Veracruz, Maseca sent five “Tortimóviles” that can make more than 200,000 hot tortillas for immediate consumption per day.
The Maseca Tortimóviles are operationally autonomous with their power plants, gas, water, Maseca corn flour, wrapping paper and coolers to conserve and transport tortillas.
Maseca units and personnel work out of Community Management Center # 15 (El Morral) in Xalapa, the Los Sauces Community Center in Poza Rica, in the El Carrizal de Papantla community, Tihuatlán, and La Victoria.
The President and CEO of Gruma, Juan González Moreno, issued instructions to have the Maseca Tortimóviles remain in the towns of Veracruz to make free hot tortillas until the emergency has passed.
“For the company, supporting the families affected in Veracruz is of the utmost importance. That is why we are helping and will continue to help the victims in the state until the emergency is over,” said the businessman.
Company personnel is in constant touch with local and federal authorities as they consistently coordinate efforts to serve the communities that need it most.
